First Impression: Light weight, fast absorbing, super hydrating, bouncy texture, powdery natural smell
Rating: 9/10 (minus a point for the not-travel friendly heavy glass jar)
In my endless search for new and exciting natural skin care with a slight obsession with Korean beauty product, I found this gem. I had just finished using my Belif True Cream Aqua Bomb as my morning moisturizer and wasn't very impressed so I was looking for a new moisturizer for my mornings when I found this cream.
I was skeptical at first - thinking products with cute packaging don't really work. But again, that notion might not be true anymore as the Koreans sure know the important of product packaging to stand out in a crowd of product AND it's the Instagram era after all - if it's not cute enough to gram, it's not cute enough to buy (yeah?)
Primary Raw claims that this facial cream is made from fermented soy milk extract (which we all now drinking soy milk gives you ah-mazing skin!), gingko leaf extract (I didn't know what this is so I looked it up - basically an ancient Asian herb known for being a super antioxidant that enhances oxygen flow to the cells) and chamomile extract (chamomile is known for its calming functions, when used on skin will reduce puffiness and redness). All good stuff right?
After careful research, reading about the brand and online reviews, I decided to give this baby a try. After all, Sephora has an amazing return policy that is basically asking us to try products out, so why not!
I am now about half-way through my Soy Milk Cream jar and can report that I am IMPRESSED. This might be the best day moisturizer I have used yet.
PROS
- It is light weight - perfect for layering in the morning but still super hydrating
- It smells divine - a very natural powdery smell with a hint of chamomile that stays on your skin until it the cream finishes absorbing
- It absorbs pretty quickly and doesn't left my skin sticky - allows me to put on my CC cream or tinted moisturizer right away without my face feeling cakey or sticky
- It's texture is bouncy and hard to explain (in a good way - see picture below) - glides onto your face easily and makes your skin immediately feels silky and hydrated
- A little goes a long way - All I do is dip the little spatula into the jar and that's the portion for my whole face!
- It comes with a two headed spatula - one head is to scoop up the product so you don't contaminate the jar, the other is a round head that I use to massage the cream onto my face on mornings that I have a little extra time - feels UH-MAZING!
CONS
- One downside of this product is that it comes in a heavy glass jar. While the jar is cute and can be reused after you're done with the cream, it's not very travel-friendly. The jar is 3.5 oz which is TSA friendly, but will definitely add weight to your luggage. I travel a lot for work so this is a definite minus for me
- Another minus is the price - for 3.5oz, it comes at a steep $46 - which is not the cheapest, but again, I little of this bad boy goes a long way. I am expecting at least 5 months use out of this little guy
So if you are still weighing your options of whether or not to try this cream out, I'd say go for it! You can even ask for a free sample from Sephora and see if it's good on your skin. As for myself, I know I will definitely try out other products from PrimaryRaw now!
Happy Skin-Caring!
